Sunderland midfielder weighing up future this winter

Sunderland midfielder Dylan McGeouch is weighing up his future at the club.

The 26-year-old could depart the Stadium of Light next month, according to a report by the Chronicle Live.

With Sunderland targeting Feyernoord midfielder Liam Kelly, this could pave the way for the central midfielder to leave the club.

McGeouch, who is Scotland international with two caps to his name, has made 12 appearances for the Black Cats so far this season in all competitions.

It hasn’t worked out for him since his move to the North-East in the summer of 2018 and he was linked with a move back to Scotland throughout the last campaign. It is likely these rumours will resurface this January with his future once again uncertain.

McGeouch started out at Celtic and had a brief spell at rivals Rangers before switching to the Hoops before breaking into their first team. He made 27 appearances for the Glasgow side and also had a loan spell in England at Coventry City.

He left Celtic Park in 2014 to join Hibernian and went on to become a key player for the Edinburgh outfit. He played 121 games for Hibs, helping them win the Scottish Cup in 2016 and promotion to the top flight the year after.

There as a lot of clubs interested in him two summers ago but it was Sunderland who won the race to sign him. With his future with the Black Cats up in the air, could he move back up the border next month?
